About TBTK

TBTK stands for Tigum Bol-anon Tibuok Kalibutan loosely translated as “a gathering of Boholanos
from all over the world.” In time for the revelry of the Sandugo season and with many balikbayans
coming home in the month of July, the TBTK is the Global Homecoming of Bohol’s sons and
daughters from all corners of the world.

If there is one common and distinguishing character among Boholanos, it is the attachment to
home brought by deep love for family and strong faith. This unique trademark is evidenced by the
cohesive nature of Boholanos as seen in the large number of Boholano organizations existing in
many areas all over the world.

It was in during the 6th convention of the Confederation of Boholanos in the United States and
Canada, Inc. (CONBUSAC), that the TBTK was first conceived. Along with the CONBUSAC, the idea
was easily supported by the Bohol Associations of Metro Manila, Inc. (BAMMI), the Boholano
organizations from other countries as well as those from other Philippine provinces.

Hosted by the Provincial Government of Bohol, the City Government of Tagbilaran and the
Dioceses of Tagbilaran and Talibon, the TBTK has been held in 1999, 2003, 2006, 2009, and 2012.

With its success in institutionalizing the global get-together and making it one of the most-awaited
events in the province, the TBTK was cited by the Department of Tourism as a model for other
provinces to follow.

TBTK also provided a window for local governments, educational institutions and the private
sector to display current developments within the province, while promoting projects that help in
the social and medical needs of the people as well as enhance economic growth and increase
investments in Bohol.
